CANCER AND DIET 1
Hey there,
Happy new month to you. Welcome to the first lap of the ember months.
It is September which happens to be Pediatric Cancer Awareness month. We at Healthy Edibles will throughout the month of September enlighten you on healthy food choices that can help prevent the risk of cancer.
This week, we’ll be giving you a general overview of pediatric cancer and a list of not-so healthy food choices that tend to increase the risk of cancer in anybody.
Pediatric cancer also known as childhood cancer is simply cancer in children ranging from brain cancer, leukemia, neuroblastoma, bone cancer, lymphoma and the likes. Children with cancer are known to have learning disabilities for a while and if not properly managed, it could span the rest of their lives.
While cancer is mostly caused by accumulated damages to genes, there are other factors that could increase the risk of cancer. A few of those factors are:
Radiation: Exposing children and even adults to high-energy radiation could increase the risk of cancer.
Smoking: Fumes from cigarettes and hard substances (tobacco especially) also contribute to the risk of cancer; especially lung cancer in children.
Consistent of high-risk-cancer foods: Foods do not necessarily cause cancer. However continuous consumption of high-risk-cancer foods could lead to cancer. Red meat, processed food, canned food and even continuous consumption of smoked food have been labeled as cancer risk food.
So to reduce the risk of cancer in your body, stay away from high-energy radiation. Also avoid cigarette or tobacco fumes. Don’t smoke and stay away from places where people smoke. Eat fresh fish, avoid red meat and if you are to eat processed food at all, take it sparingly. Lastly, stock up on vegetables. Add vegetables no matter how little to every meal.
That way we reduce the chances of cancer in our bodies and in no time we’ll have a cancer free society.
